No vaccine is mandatory to enter Egyptian territory, however, it is still strongly recommended to be up to date with Hepatitis A vaccination. For those planning an extended stay and/or venturing off the beaten path, adding the rabies vaccine to your recommended list is advisable. If you want to travel with complete peace of mind, vaccinations against Hepatitis B and typhoid fever are worth considering.

There is a notably high rate of Hepatitis C in Égypte. Avoid piercings, barbers, or popular hair salons at all costs. Should you need minor surgery, ensure you visit the most reputable clinics. The same applies to dentists—the more upscale the establishment, the better your chances of receiving quality care.

Health Hazards

The primary health concern in Égypte stems from intense human concentration in the capital: Cairo is one of the world's most densely populated and most polluted cities.

This means that people with asthma and heart conditions should exercise great caution, as overall hygiene and food safety standards can be inconsistent. Traveler's diarrhea is widespread among visitors to Égypte, so exercise caution when eating street food.

Cairo's famous dust becomes treacherously slippery when wet—watch out for falls and vehicles whose brakes may fail. Other hazards include potholed sidewalks and streets, so watch your step carefully. Exercise absolute caution around cars and buses, as pedestrian accidents occur daily.
