Complete Egypt Guide
Our local agency is based in Cairo, a few kilometers from the Giza Plateau. From this base, we organize trips that generally combine four areas: the capital and its surroundings (Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Memphis), the Nile Valley between Luxor and Aswan, the Red Sea near Hurghada or Marsa Alam for diving, and the White and Black Deserts around Bahariya for those who love desert camping.
Egypt can be explored easily in two weeks if you're comfortable with a brisk pace. The country has more than a hundred recorded pyramids, as well as well-preserved Ptolemaic temples such as Edfu and Kom Ombo, often visited on a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan (3 to 4 nights aboard). Arabic remains the working language, but English is widely spoken in tourism and our team is English-speaking.
As for climate, the high season runs from October to April, with days of 22-28°C in the Nile Valley and cool nights in the desert. Summer is possible for the Red Sea but becomes uncomfortable in Luxor (over 42°C in July-August). Depending on your duration and preferences, we guide you toward a classic Cairo-Luxor-Aswan itinerary, or toward a combination with desert or diving.

Cairo and Giza
The capital concentrates the essence of what is associated with ancient Egypt. The Gizeh Plateau, 18 km from the center, is home to the three great pyramids and the Sphinx. 30 km south, Saqqarah and its stepped pyramid of Djoser deserve half a day, often less crowded. The Grand Egyptian Museum, in Gizeh, now displays the complete Tutankhamun collection. Plan for 3 days on site to absorb Cairo's pace, explore the old Coptic quarter, Khan el-Khalili and the Citadel of Saladin. Pleasant temperatures from October to April, stifling in summer with peaks at 38°C.
Nile Valley
The Luxor-Aswan segment, approximately 220 km, forms the heart of trips to Egypt. Luxor concentrates Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, and Hatshepsut Temple on the west bank. Aswan, more peaceful, opens onto Nubia with its villages of painted houses. Between the two, a cruise (3 nights downstream, 4 nights upstream) remains the smoothest way to visit Edfu and Kom Ombo. Dry climate year-round, ideal from November to March (22-28°C during the day), very hot from April to October.
Abu Simbel and Nubia
Located 280 km south of Aswan, near the Sudanese border, the two temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari were dismantled and reassembled in the 1960s to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser. A visit is possible as a day excursion (45-minute flight or a 3.5-hour convoy drive) or on a rarer Nile cruise on Lake Nasser, which includes Wadi es-Sebua and Amada. The region is also the starting point for discovering Nubian culture, distinct from Arab Egypt.
Red Sea
The coastline between Hurghada and Marsa Alam (400 km south) offers some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the Mediterranean basin, with regular visibility up to 30 meters and water temperatures between 22 and 28°C depending on the season. Ras Mohammed National Park, at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, and the reefs of the Brothers Islands attract experienced divers. For a beach stay combined with a cultural circuit, El Gouna and Soma Bay offer a quieter setting than Hurghada. Diving is possible year-round.
Western Deserts
The oases of Bahariya, Farafra and Siwa open onto landscapes rarely associated with Égypte. The White Desert, 50 km from Farafra, features chalk formations sculpted by wind, perfect for an overnight bivouac under the stars. Siwa, 8 hours' drive from Alexandria, preserves its Berber culture and hot spring waters. Allow 4 to 5 days for a desert circuit from Cairo. Comfortable temperatures from October to April, cool nights in winter (5 to 10°C).
Sinai
A peninsula between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, Sinai combines hiking and diving. Mount Sinai (2,285 m) is climbed at night for sunrise, departing from Saint Catherine's Monastery, one of the oldest active Christian monasteries. Dahab, on the east coast, remains quieter than Sharm El-Sheikh and provides access to the Blue Hole, a renowned diving site. Security conditions vary by zone, and our team tailors itineraries accordingly. Mild climate year-round on the coast, cooler at altitude.
