Cairo, Alexandria Cruise + Abu Simbel overnight

After breakfast, we head to discover the Giza Plateau, one of the most famous historical sites on the planet. This rocky plateau overlooking the Nile valley is home to the Giza necropolis, a vast funerary complex used notably under the Fourth Dynasty. It contains the three main tombs that represent the largest pyramids in Égypte, one of the 7 wonders of the world. Kheops is the highest and most voluminous of the three. It evokes the quintessence of Egyptian monumental architecture.

We then head to discover the capital of the Ancient Egyptian Empire, Memphis south of Cairo. The city was founded by King Menes around 3000 BC and placed under the protection of the god Ptah, the patron of Craftsmen.

We end the day with a visit to the stepped pyramid of Saqqara which was built around 2700 BC for the pharaoh Djoser by the architect Imhotep.

After breakfast, we head to Alexandria. We stop along the way to visit the Coptic Monastery in Wadi El Natroun.

Upon arrival, we have a fish lunch before discovering the Fort Qait bay. The latter is located at the mouth of the eastern port. Built in 1477, this defensive fortress is one of the most important in Égypte and along the Mediterranean coast.

We then visit the largest Roman funerary site in the country, as well as the most important archaeological site in the city.

We will then visit the Library of Alexandria.

Return to the capital.

We have breakfast at the hotel, then departure to discover the Citadel of Saladin, a large fortress, built between 1176 and 1183 on the heights of the capital of current Égypte, The Cairo. It was built by Saladin, founder of the Ayyubid dynasty.

We have lunch in a typical restaurant before heading to the famous National Museum. The latter was founded in 1857 by Auguste Mariette Pacha, a French specialist in studies on ancient Égypte.

We are transferred to Cairo airport to take a flight to Luxor.

Breakfast at the hotel then departure for a visit to the Ramesseum, the funerary temple of Ramses II.

We continue our visit with the Medinet Habu site, also called the temple of millions of years of Ramses III.

We will then head to the Luxor Museum, inaugurated in 1975, on the corniche overlooking the Nile, which presents collections displayed with restraint. The objects are relatively few in number but of great quality, in particular, a magnificent green schist statue of the pharaoh Thutmosis III.

After breakfast we head towards Dendera (74.2 km). Once arrived, we visit the temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor.

Lunch on the way, then continue to Abydos (94.3 km) to discover the city of Osiris.

We visit the Abydos templebuilt by Seti I, with its seven chapels.

Return to Louxor.

We have breakfast at the hotel then leave for a visit to Deir el-Medina (Artisans' Village) with the temple which was an offering of Maât to Hathor. We continue the visit with the Valley of the Nobles.

Next, after lunch, we head to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This site is located at the top of a series of terraces. We take long ramps surrounded by gardens to access it. Among the fascinating decorations of the temple, we admire sculptures that tell the story of the divine birth of the pharaoh.

After breakfast, we set off to discover the Valley of the Kings which impresses us with its three tombs and 62 burial chambers. We also discover the Valley of the Queens which houses 2 tombs with 75 burial chambers.

Subsequently, we head to the Luxor Temple which is dedicated to the god Amun. This edifice, located in the heart of ancient Thebes, was built in large part during the XVIIIth and XIXth dynasties. We will see there a large pylon and a sanctuary representing the residence of Amun Opet. We can cross two large peristyle courts as well as a monumental colonnade connecting these courts.

We are transferred to the boat for check-in and boarding of our Nile Cruise.

Dinner and first night on board.

We set off to visit the Karnak complex, a vast ensemble of various structures: temple ruins, chapels, pylons and much more. This site was rebuilt and developed over more than 2,000 years by successive pharaohs.

Lunch on board and then we sail towards Esna passing through the Esna Lock.

We then set off to discover Edfou. We visit, among other things, the Temple of Edfou dedicated to the Falcon-headed God Horus. At the entrance to the site, we will see two beautiful black granite statues illustrating this deity. This sanctuary is the best preserved in the country.

Return to the boat and sailing towards Kom Ombo.

We reach theTemple of Kom Ombo, a temple from the Ptolemaic period. This religious building is dedicated to both the hawk god Haroeris and the crocodile god Sobek.

After visiting the temple, the journey continues towards Assouan.

We embark on a lovely boat ride around Agilkia Island. We then stroll on this piece of land to visit the Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis. It is the main structure of Philae. Moreover, this last place of worship of the goddess in Égypte impresses tourists with its magnificent columns, the cornice of its portico adorned with solar discs as well as its ceiling decorated with vultures with spread wings.

We set off to discover the Aswan High Dam, one of the most important in the world with a water retention capacity of 169 million m³. Built between 1960 and 1970 by Soviet engineers, this hydroelectric dam supplies electricity to the entire country.

We also visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in a large granite quarry. Abandoned by workers following a crack in the rock, this gigantic obelisk shows us how monuments of this type are shaped in the granite massif.

Drive to Abu Simbel. Lunch en route.

After breakfast we visit the great temple built by Ramesses II, followed by a detour to the small temple of Queen Nefertari, also built by her husband Ramesses II. This second sanctuary is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, goddess of love, music and beauty.

We then return to Assouan, lunch en route.

After arriving in the capital following 1 hour 30 minutes of flight, we go for a walk through Old Cairo and its sumptuous buildings:

• The Coptic Museum which was founded in 1910 by Marcus Simaïka. Its extensive collection of objects, textiles, manuscripts, icons, artifacts and texts from the paleochristian period make it the richest Coptic art museum in the world.

• The Church of Saint Mary, built during the patriarchate of Isaac. The mosaics that adorn the courtyard of this famous Christian building in Cairo trace the journey of the Holy Family in Égypte during the time of the massacre of infants in Judea.

• The Amr Mosque, the first mosque built on the African continent. It has undergone numerous restorations and blends elements from different periods.

After breakfast, we are transferred to the airport to take the flight to Cairo.
